Meet the Wolves 2011

Every fall before the fall sports start.  EHS has meet the wolves.  All the teams that participate can and introduce their teams to the community.

This is Rhett introducing his wrestlers for the year.  He has about 30 of them.

This is Daniel and Antonio doing a demostration.

Cheerleaders getting ready to perform. Morgan is in that group somewhere.

Cheerleaders performing at meet the wolves.  Then I introduced them.

It was a fun night, and the community got to see all the teams for this season.

Deer Hunt

Well, the, elk hunt was unsucessful this year.  The first weekend it was below zero, so Rhett, Tanner and Wade got our camp trailer off the mountain and helped Grandpa Jeffery keep the cows on the mountain.  Then Saturday morning Wade woke up with the stomache flu, so they came home.  The second weekend went about like the first.  They couldn't leave until Friday night, because Tanner had a football game.  When they go up there Wade was still sick.  He stayed at Grandpa Jeffery's while they hunted.  But, Rhett and Tanner didn't see anything.
So, when the deer hunt came around, Rhett and Tanner were determined to fill their tags.  The Saturday that Morgan and I were at State Volleyball Rhett texted me and sent me pictures of the deer that Tanner shot behind E hill.  It is a nice deer.  A 4 x 5.  The funny thing about it is it was in the middle of a grassy area with on dead tree there.  Rhett missed and Tanner hit.

Tanner behind E hill with his deer.  rhett was so proud!  Tanner was pretty happy too!

Right after Tanner gets his deer, they hear some shooting.  They look up the hill behind them and the Hall family is shooting at another big buck.  Here is the deer Ralene Hall tagged and Tanner's deer.  Rhett wonders if they are brothers.  Tanner's had more points, but Ralene's was wider.
Sunday morning on the last day, Rhett went out.  He called me about 8:00 and asked me to bring the truck because he had found this 3 point.

Trick or Treat

Every year state volleyball is on Halloween.  But, this year Halloween was on Monday so I was here instead of at volleyball.  The elementary school did have their Halloween carnival while I was gone.  Rhett is such a good dad.  He got Rayce and Wade in their costumes and took them to the carnival.  On Monday they had a costume parade at school and that evening was trick or treating.  Rayce was so excited to go, I didn't even get a picture.  He was a knight and he went with Royd and Natalie Darrington.  They put a trailor on their 4-wheeler and drove Rayce and Dace around town.
 Hey Georgie, where's your tie???
Well, Mom I don't like the tie and Dad ties it better than you.  He made it fluffy for the carnival and you just made a big bow!
Ok, then Georgie.  How about a side veiw of your awesome hair?  How is this Mom, do you like my hair?
Let me see the serious side of you Mr. President.  Well, close.  You look more sleepy than serious.
How about your look from the quarter.  Nice, that is excatly how you look on the quarter!
And the dollar, here Georgie is on the dollar.  By the way, nice tie.
Morgan had all these boys show up at our house and want to go trick or treating.  Morgan dressed half of them up.  Back row: Connor (wearing Morgan's dress, high heels and fairy wings.) Morgan as a fairy, Treyson as a cat (Morgan's costume from when she was in 2nd grade) Bottom row: Kelton (Harry Portor, Tanner's costume from like 4th grade or so.  He says the costume is really itchy.  I told him if he was going to work magic he would have to put up with the pain the came with it.  He agreed and wore the costume for hours.) Portman as a gangster and I think the last kid's name is Richardo.  But, I'm not sure, he is also a gangster.  We had Freshman in our yard and our house on and off all night.  I think they had alot of fun.  Tanner and TJ took Wade trick or treating after he got tired of walking with his friends.  Rhett and I stayed home and drank hot cider and passed out candy.
Wade was George Washington and Morgan was a fairy.

Halloween

Every Halloween our family carves pumpkins for family home evening.  Last year we carved with the Darrington family and the Drake family.  We decided to do the same thing this year.  We carved at the Darringtons home.  The Dawsons also came.  We ate hot dog and drank apple cinder, then it was time to move back the furniture, roll out the plastic and break out the carving tools.  Tanner's girlfriend TJ was over to our house when we were planning this and she confessed that she has never carved a pumpkin.  So, it became mandatory that she participate.  She was a great sport and got right in there with the rest of us.

Rayce, Tanner and TJ.  If you will notice, in all of the pictures, Rayce is a supervisor.
 Maddie Dawson and Wade.
This is Morgan's pumpkin.  It is pretty little and deformed.  But, I let Rayce pick it out for her.  He insisted that this pumpkin was for Morgan and that she would love it!
Here is a picture of a buch of us carving away.
Go Wade.  He's really cleaning that pumpkin out!
Hailey and Rayce. (Of course he is supervising again)

TJ, Tanner and Rayce.  I'll tell you what, Tanner and TJ need to work on their creativity!  Those are some boring jack o'lanterns.
Oh, how cute... Nice job for your first time TJ.
Hope that pumpkin isn't to small!  Good luck cleaning it out Morgan.  I'm sure she wanted a larger pumpkin to work with, but she didn't want to hurt Rayce's feelings.  It had to be a sideways pumpkin because it wasn't fat enough to stand up.
Keep going girl.  You're doing great!
Morgan and the sideways pumpkin, Rayce and his awesome pumpkin (Rhett designed it and approved by his supervisor, Rayce), and Wade.  Wade made his all by himself.

It was great fun, until next year...HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Rhett is 40

Well, Rhett turned the big 4-0 this year.  I have been telling him for years that we were going to do something special for his 40th birthday.  He kept telling me no, and that we weren't going to spend money on his birthday. (Rhett is very selfless that way, he never wants to spend money on his self like that).
I had 2 ideas.  I was going to take him to a Denver Broncos football game in Denver or take him to the Las Vegas Speedway and buy him a Richard Petty driving experience.  There was a football game in Denver the weekend of his birthday and a Monday night game the next weekend.  So, I asked him how much work he would be willing to miss.  I wanted to know if he would miss a Monday or a Monday and Tuesday.  He told me neither because of the Ivins City job he was working on.  So, no football game for Rhett.  So, I called the Vegas Speedway and bought him a Richard Petty driving experience.  I had been trying to keep it a secret from him.  He knew we were doing something, but not what.  I am terrible at keeping secrets from Rhett.  But,I decided that since he has wanted to do this for so long, I would make him anticipate it.  About one day before we left I gave him a package with his ticket and all his paperwork.  He was really excited! I hope he enjoyed this birthday...
Driving to the race track.  Rhett's birthday is in September, and one of Rhett's favorite past times in hunting elk.  So, every August he has to start growing his beard for hunting season.  The dumb thing stays on until he shoots his elk or admits defeat.

Part of the classroom.  Before they would let Rhett and the other drivers drive the race car, they have to sit through and hour class.
This is Rhett in his driving jumpsuit.  It is huge!  Rhett must look really big, because the lady passing out the jumpsuits gave Rhett a huge one.  I told him he is not fat, he just has a big presence about him.  He looked at me like I am crazy.
 Back of the track
While Rhett was in class, I walked around and took pictures.  This is one of the instructor's cars.  It is in a pit garage.
 More pit pictures.
A Richard Petty car in the pit garage
Rhett and Rachelle at the track right before he drives.  It was really windy.  I was nervous.  The instructor drives in front of Rhett and Rhett is driving a race car behind him.  The instructor will go as fast as Rhett will keep up with.  And Rhett wants to go fast.  He has wanted to do this for about 6 years.  I hope he has fun!  (he did)
 Posing for the photographer
Look he grinned!  Not quiet a smile, but close.
Modeling his helmet.  On the side of pit row, where they take off from, they had big tents set up for the spectators.  That's where I am.
The guy is hooking up the neck safety device thing.
 Climbing in
Buckle up and please don't forget to put the steering wheel back on!
 Off we go...
 Rhett following his instructor.
The instructor is the first car and Rhett is the second one.  They were going fast enough that it was hard to get pictures of him actually racing.
There were a couple other birthday boys there.  One turning 30, Rhett turning 40 and a guy turning 50.  Some of them brought their families there to race with them.  The one lady that raced and Rhett maxed out the speed they would let you go.  Rhett went about 133.  He wanted to go faster.  If we wanted to buy more laps, they said they would let him.  Rhett said maybe next time. We still had other plans in Vegas.

We had a great time.  We did our own thing, saw stuff we wanted to, and did some shopping.  Saturday night we went to Excalibur for dinner and a show.  We watched to the Tournament of Kings show.  It was fun.  I swear every time Rhett and I go out town we end up by the really drunk people.  There was this couple next to us that was wasted.  By the end of the show the lady had booed everyone, thrown stuff and told the "hero" To kick his A**! (very loudly)  We were cheering for France and she kept trying to get the King of France knight to give her a kiss.  He finally came over and kissed her on the hand.  I think he was just trying to quiet her down.  It was hilarious!
